Our regional economy and the wellbeing of our people are dependent on the availability of water.
It’s no surprise then that water security has been identified as a critical driver for the Waikato region and is reflected as one of our strategic priorities.
The Water Security Strategy for the Waikato Region builds on national and local water security initiatives to identify a roadmap for a coordinated regional response to changing water security.
It recommends the development of a collaborative, multi-stakeholder and regional-scale Water Security Implementation Plan to identify roles and responsibilities in addressing the significant water security challenges facing the region, and to establish partnerships to implement appropriate solutions.
The aim of our Water Security Strategy is to establish a roadmap for improved water security in the Waikato, with a clear understanding of the issues, objectives for the region and measures of success.
