We are the Waikato Regional Council. We are responsible for some, but not all, water-related issues.
If your enquiry is listed below, there’s a good chance that your local city or district council are the people to talk to. (If you're still not sure who to contact, you can always contact us and we’ll help you out).
Here are some of the wonderful water-related things we don’t look after.
- Animals, vehicles, rubbish or trees in water ways: this could be regional or local council, please call us for advice.
- Blocked drains in your street: try your local city or district council.
- Water tobies on private property (overflowing or needing maintenance): try your local city or district council.
- Rural rain water tank refills: home owners or renters are responsible for their own water supply in this case. You could try asking for local water suppliers on Neighbourly, Facebook or Google.
- Rural water tank cleaning: this is the responsibility of the home owner or renter.
- Sprinkler use during water restrictions: your local city or district council.
- Swimming pools – private pool fencing: this is the responsibility of the pool owner but it is enforced by try your local city or district council.
- Swimming pools – private pool water quality testing: this is the responsibility of the pool owner.
- Swimming pools – recreational public pool opening hours or facilities: your local city or district council.
- Water discoloration: home tap water on town supply: try your local city or district council.
- Water run-off in the street: your local city or district council.
- Watering traffic island and council gardens: your local city or district council.
